International Call for Art: Contemporary Women Artists XIV
Juried By: Judy Onofrio
Show: September 2007, Mad Art Gallery, St. Louis, Missouri

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2007.

About the Juror: Judy Onofrio is a self-taught artist whose artistic interests have ranged from the formal to the naïve to the outrageous². Her artworks can be seen internationally, continuing to capture our imaginations and make us smile. Aside from the extravagance of color, surface ornamentation, and ever-present sense of humorŠ each work tells a story of utopian wishes and dreams, a saga of seduction, duality and temptation.

About the Venue: Mad Art Gallery is a unique alternative gallery housed in a 1930s Art Deco Police Station which has been beautifully restored and converted into a gallery space. The gallery is dedicated to creating exhibitions and cultural programs that help cultivate artists as well as art audiences.

There are three jail cells available for installation works. Each cell has two long metal benches that line the walls and a small bathroom cubicle in the rear of the cell. The door to the cell is set into steel bars and can be open for viewers to interact with the installed piece or closed so that they will have to view it through the bars. The overall dimensions for the jail cell is 139.5" long x 90.5" wide x 107.5" high. The walls of all of the cells are painted metal. The only approved hanging
methods for installation works include magnets, blue painter's tape, or building wood bracing. All other hanging methods will be disqualified.

About the Exhibition: The fourteenth biannual Contemporary Women Artists Exhibition, sponsored by the St. Louis Chapter of the Womens Caucus for the Arts. Open to women artists all over the world.
Deadline for submissions is June 8, 2007.
